Intermodal and green logistics have revitalized the Gliwice port
The creation of the terminal in Gliwice was a response to the growing volumes of container transport arriving in Silesia and allowed for the transfer of a significant part of these transports from road to rail. The development of intermodal transport was also stimulated by industrial investments in the area of the KSEZ Economic Subzone, which is located in the vicinity of the port.
The Silesian Logistics Centre S.A. together with the PCC Intermodal SA terminal is an example of successful revitalisation of space in a region that has changed its economic structure. Today, the area of the port of Gliwice is a vibrant logistics center. The PCC Gliwice terminal currently operates in a bimodal system, handling rail and road transport. However, the port infrastructure represents a potential that could be used for container transport by water in the future.
